I teach knitting on the big needles — approximately 12 mm, 15 mm, 17 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm and up — using chunky and super-chunky yarns to create those beautiful, oversized stitches.

You do not have to be new to knitting. You may have been knitting for years but have never tried working on the “broomsticks.” Chunky knitting is a completely different experience, and I’ll teach you how to handle the oversized needles, work with very large stitches, manage your tension and get comfortable knitting at this scale.

Or, if you’ve never picked up a pair of knitting needles in your life, you can start here too. We’ll begin with the basics and get you knitting.

If you already have a chunky knitting pattern you’d like help with, bring it along. As long as it’s designed for the larger needles and uses techniques within the type of chunky knitting I teach, I’m happy to help you work through it.

Private lessons are $100 CAD for one hour and are available in person at Muskoka Knits or virtually, so you can learn from anywhere.

After purchasing your lesson, we’ll arrange a date and time that works for both of us. Virtual students will receive a link for their private video lesson.

Please note that these lessons are specifically for chunky, oversized knitting. I do not teach traditional fine knitting on small needles. Muskoka Knits proprietary patterns, designs and construction methods are not taught or included in lessons.
